With an operating weight of up to 54,516 lb. (24,728 kg), the 170-horsepower (127-kW) HX220AL excavator from Hyundai is powered by a Cummins B6.7 Stage 5/Tier 4 Final diesel engine.

Featuring an upper and lower frame structure designed to endure external shock and heavy workloads, the excavator offers travel speeds up to 5.4 km / hr (3.4 mph), a maximum digging depth of just over 22 feet, reach of up to 32.75 feet and a bucket range of 0.92 m3 (1.2 cu.yd.). It has a bucket breakout force rated up to 37,100 lb.ft. and an arm crowd force of up to 36,850 lb.ft.

Hyundai introduced its OEM 2D Machine Guidance (MG) system to Canadian customers at the recent NHES show. Hyundai 2D MG, available on the HX220AL, is a low-cost, fully integrated, user-friendly, alternative to conventional surveying methods and it is scalable to accommodate a Trimble 3D upgrade.

The 2D MG system displays the height of bucket teeth from the target depth and angle of the bucket in real-time. It’s ideal for trenching, grading, and making a slope. With 2D MG, the operator can increase productivity without having a worker in the dig site, for a safer work environment overall.

Additional features on the machine include automatic engine shutdown, auto safety lock, and eco gauge lifting mode.
